Summer 2007

What a Summer it's been already. New publications, news of awards and plenty of events!

The Carnival of Voices event programme is into its third heat and the writers of the Trinity College MA Creative Writing group have also been travelling the country, supported by Parthian.

Over the last few weeks Parthian have flown Jordi Coca, author of Under the Dust to Cardiff to appear at the academi Baylit Festival. A.G Thomas along with Olga Merino, both joined Anne Maclean at the Dylan Thomas Centre Spanish Literary Festival, Wise and Foolish Dreamers.

African and Welsh writing

Tinashe Mushakavanhu and Jim Bowen were recently in discussion with Dominic Williams about African and Welsh writing. The event was part of the programme of Ffrinj events associated with the Trinity Arts Festival and is a great example of the working relationship between Trinity College and Parthian Books

Tinashe is from Zimbabwe and has most recently co-edited A Haunting Touch published last month by Parthian. Jim's novel about a young teacher working in Kenya is due to be published by Parthian next year.

Dramatic readings were provided by Jamie White and James Morgan (co-editor of A Haunting Touch) both of who are professional actors. They have just graduated from Trinity College Carmarthen with Masters degrees in Creative Writing.

Also recently, Rachel Trezise and Midasuno held a Rock/Lit gig at Barfly, Cardiff. The night was a huge success and we hope to hold a similar event at Barfly, London.

UK Literary Award Nominations

Jasmine Donahaye's debut poetry collection Misappropriations gained her a short-listing for the Jerwood Aldeburgh Prize and has been so successful, particularly in the US, that it has just gone into reprint.

Cynan Jones author of The Long Dry recently won the Betty Trask awards. We have recently reprinted this book with a brand new cover.
