New and Selected Poems
A uniquely individual collection of finely crafted, entertaining poems, often provocative sometimes achingly funny. The words trace a development from ferocious performance poetry to an increasingly bittersweet seam of writing, challenging, witty and honest.
A challenge to the prevailing precepts of Welsh poetry.
Ifor Thomas was born in Haverfordwest in 1949 and now lives in Cardiff. He won the John Tripp Award for Spoken Poetry in 1992 and has been one of the leading voices in the development of new Welsh poetry.
"Unconventional and highly individual, he is an urban lyricist of superb energy and unfailing curiosity who finds poetry in anything and everything.... an engagingly mischievous renegade." Alun Rees, The Western Mail
"His best work all has a direct immediate appeal. They are tales, they recount with great wit many of the things that happen to South Wales's marrieds, with kids, with houses, with jobs. This is what Ifor Thomas is, Urban South Wales." Peter Finch, Buzz.
